All You Want To Know About KidZone

Overview

KidZone is a free Christian after-school program for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade. Our caring staff and volunteers nurture and shepherd children. Age-appropriate Bible teaching, discussion, fun games, interesting crafts, videos, drama and lively music lead children on their journey of faith discovery.

Our mission is to make disciples by creating a fun, loving, and interactive environment where kids are encouraged to grow in Christ. We pray that your children’s biblical adventure here lays a foundation for a lifetime of living for Christ!

Schedule

3:00 – 3:45 p.m.          KidZone Café/Free Time

3:45 – 4:30 p.m.          Game Time

4:30 – 5:10 p.m.          Bible Lessons

5:10 – 5:30 p.m.          Regather/Worship

KidZone Café: As soon as the kids arrive, they will be able to sit down with a “super-sized” healthy snack. They can take their time as they eat and visit with other kids as well as the KidZone volunteers. After they are done eating, they can work on homework or play basketball, four-square, carpetball or just hang out until we break up into our game and rotation time.

Game Time: Every week we have 40 minutes of game time, where the kids play different games together. Just like adults, they need to develop and experience quality relationships through fun activities.

Rotation Time: This is a special time when we teach from the Bible. We have 4-week rotations, where we teach the same lesson, but in 4 different methods and rooms over the 4-week period. We have Creation Station (craft room); Starlight Drive-In (movie room); and Bible-Bytes (computer room); and Scenes by the Sea (drama/skit room). We know that children learn in different ways and by using the rotation model, we hope to connect the stories of the Bible to the kids in one or more ways that will help the Bible stories to “stick.”

Celebration Time: We end our day with 20 minutes of singing lively worship songs and we learn Bible verses that will help the kids throughout their lives. And we go over the lesson for the day.

Note: KidZone follows the Albert Lea Schools calendar

Transportation from School

We offer a free bus from the Albert Lea schools. Kids ride a bus from their school to the Southwest hub and then transfer to the “KidZone Bus.” The bus monitors and drivers will help make sure they get to the church safely!
